LIBRARY COMPETITION

Customer: City of Helsinki | Town: Helsinki | Year: 2012 | Surface: 10,000.00m2

The place presents many determining of a very different nature: urban, infrastructural, constructive, as well as architectonical references are many and diverse. It is a strategic sitement with a capital meaning in Helsinki's citizen and cultural development, because of the place as well as the function assigned to it.. Considering all this, we chose an abstract composition piece, a piece that emerges from the ground and seems to be suspended. A container, an envelope to take in all the uses and functions the Library requires and other potential ones that could be added in the future. As the piece emerges, the ground suffers modifications of its structure, a small hill births and a slight hollow appears, physically upcoming from the excavations needed.
